# Data routing to private server

can i transmit sensor reading directly to my web server instead of routing it thorough notehub?

Hi @Jayant,

A primary value of using Notecard/Notehub together is the security of your device and data. Notecard is able to communicate over secure channels with Notehub as soon as its powered on, without any configuration on your end. So the short answer is, no, you cannot send data “directly” to a separate server. You can use the [web APIs](https://dev.blues.io/api-reference/notecard-api/web-requests/latest/) to send/receive data to/from your web services without using Notes, but those are still managed by Notehub.
