# I need an example on how to route data from ubidots to notehub to set a variable in notecard

Hi @bassilb1 thanks for posting, and welcome to the community, we’re glad you are here!

I am not familiar enough with Ubidots to point you in the right direction for how to trigger a request from their product to Notehub, but I can tell you that once you find that place, it’s a simple API call on our end.

1. You’ll want to start by obtaining a session token using the instructions [here](https://dev.blues.io/reference/notehub-api/api-introduction/#authentication)
2. From there, you will use the Notehub API to [add an inbound Note](https://dev.blues.io/reference/notecard-api/note-requests/) or [set an Environment Variable](https://dev.blues.io/reference/notehub-api/environment-variable-api/), depending on your needs.
