# Legacy (Green) Cellular Notecards fail to Enable Cellular Modem when used in Notecarrier XS

## Issue Description

If you are using Notecarrier XS with a Notecard Cellular (Legacy) device (a.k.a. a green Notecard), the shield over the modem can touch the VGPS\_OUT pad, initiating a short.

This may cause the Notecard’s VMODEM regulator to heat up and not generate enough voltage to enable the modem.

## Workaround

Cover the affected pins with a non-conductive tape such as Kapton tape.

## Issue Mitigated with New Shipments and Manufacturing

This issue has been mitigated with conformal coating or Kapton tape. We  
recommend not removing the Kapton tape if using Notecarrier XS with a green Notecard Cellular (Legacy).
