# Question about the notecard carrier design

In the NoteCarrier A schematic I see these resistors (highlighted in the screenshot) what are their purpose?

Hey @ril3y,

It’s a simple technique that some designers use for a small bit of ESD protection on external pads that can be easily touched by fingers. If you are designing a circuit where these signals are not feeding external pads, the resistors should be eliminated.
