For our application we currently use a 2nd GNSS/GPS receiver in order to get COG/SOG (in addition to the lat/longitude). Since GNSS is part of the Starnote board, how can we get the COG/SOG fields via the CLI interface?

If we can get this via a location data request we can remove our GNSS receiver from the board, saving both BOM cost, complexity and board estate.

Hi @satlog.io,

Unfortunately neither Starnote nor Notecard firmware expose the GPS’s own COG/SOG values. The closest thing you can get today is the `_track.qo` Note as that includes `velocity` in m/s and `bearing` in degrees…but those are calculated from the distance and time between two tracking points so they are averages (and they are only available in Notehub when you enable [tracking mode](https://dev.blues.io/guides-and-tutorials/notecard-guides/asset-tracking-with-gps/)).

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks Rob, that matches with what we’ve found.

Is there a technical limitation for this? Would be helpful, for now we’re combining the data on the backend, but the device would benefit from this as well.
