# Starnote packet size

Hi, the under the section Starnote/ [Satellite (NTN) Communications], the minimum packet size is listed as “Starnote packets are at least 50 bytes at a minimum”. Does this 50 byte size INCLUDE “user data”?

So a 20 byte ‘user’ data chunk would still yield a packet size of 50 bytes? Or 70 bytes?

Hi @richf,

The 50 byte minimum DOES include user-provided data.
