ALT_DFU_xxx pins for Outboard DFU

Wi-Fi+Cellular Notecards have the ALT DFU pins (ALT_DFU_BOOT etc. in the datasheet.)

Are there any steps required to configure the Notecard to use these pins for ODFU, or, being dedicated DFU pins, are they always used during ODFU?

The datasheet points to the detailed reference but I wasn’t able to find mention of the alternate set of DFU pins there.
