Hi Rich. Sorry for the delay on this one. Yes, the modem’s internal GPS should continue to function, although you are probably better off using the GPS on the Starnote instead. See here for more on this topic. It should be faster, and I believe it will use less power than using the cell modem’s GPS. Can you please tell me:
card.location.mode and parameters), and whether you’re using the ntn.gps request. Also, will a Hub Sync ever be requested?
Could you clarify what you mean?
Hi Hayden,
Thanks for the reply – here’s the info ..
Notecard firmware version is 11.4.1.17828
Iridium firmware version is “version”: “starnote-x-11.3.2.17807”,
My program is modeled after one of your GPS examples – GPS is set to “continuous” for a “short” time – L/L & time is acquired and then GPS is set to “off”. (the program [main.cpp] was written for an Arduino). In the long run, the GPS would most likely be “woken” up once an hour, or so, with the L/L being posted to the server via the “satellite” transport.
I was having trouble acquiring a GPS fix - I posted the pseudo code to your forum and Rob responded with a comment regarding Hub.sync monitoring – my implementation had a bug which Rob corrected for me. But – it still wasn’t working. I then installed the latest firmware versions, as noted above, and ‘voila’, “internal” GPS was acquired via the Notecard. I then enabled NTN operation & diagnostics indicated that the internal Iridium GPS was working. I’ll be doing more testing & will feed back any issues if they arrive.
Thanks a lot for the help .. ALSO thanks to Diseree for helping.
regards, Rich ..
