Is there really no access to RAW WIFI from the OPTA?

We recently purchased the OPTA/BLUES Bundle from your company for evaluation. MD Products operates over 100 machines under 40 roofed acres that we intend to integrate with our Production Counting System. Our preferred approach is to utilize Arduino devices connected via Wi-Fi to our self-hosted server APIs.

Due to safety regulations, all control components must be housed within fireproof enclosures. Given that the BlueBox includes external antennas, our expectation was that the OPTA/BLUES combination could be mounted inside the enclosure, with the antennas externally positioned to maintain Wi-Fi connectivity.

Additionally, company policy strictly prohibits the use of any cloud-based services. We are seeking confirmation on whether your solution can support this configuration—specifically, local-only communication via RAW Wi-Fi with no reliance on cloud infrastructure.

If this setup is not feasible, we will unfortunately need to return the bundle, which would result in a missed opportunity for a potential deployment of over 100 units.

We appreciate your guidance and look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Hi @namellac

The Blues Wireless for Opta requires the use of Notehub, the Blues Cloud platform, in order to securely move your data from a device in the field, to your web services.

All of the traffic between the Blues Wireless for Opta and Notehub is secured as the radio will only communicate with our servers at Notehub. I appreciate that this likely doesn’t adhere to your company policy as this does require the use of Cloud infrastructure.

Thanks,

Alex

I guess y’all are missing out on a $30K potential sale then. I’ve been around long enough to remember Salesforce IOT and how it got deprecated. EEPROMs were meant to be programmable. Is there not another customized version for a fee?
