Trouble with startup

“I received a new NOTE-MBGLW installed in a Notecarrier X. On first power-up, Windows detects USB VID_0483 PID_DF11 (DFU in FS Mode). No USB serial device appears. Is this expected for a new unit, or is the module defective?”

Hi @matt1 and welcome to the Blues community!

It almost sounds like the Notecard firmware didn’t start or a firmware update was interrupted. Thankfully this should be a firmware recovery issue, not a defective hardware situation. Here’s where I would start:

  1. Start with a full power cycle. You’ve probably tried this already, but make sure you completely remove all power sources (USB and any LiPos), wait 10 secs, then reconnect. Hopefully it comes back up as a COM port on Windows at that point.
  2. If not, try reflashing Notecard firmware over USB (ideally even trying another computer or another cable if possible, just in case).
  3. If that is not possible, you can try our instructions on recovering a bricked Notecard. You can actually follow the Notecarrier A instructions with your Notecarrier X as the same pins are exposed.

If that all fails let us know!
