Powering up notecarrier-F with 12V

hello,
first time that we are going to use 12V for powering a notecarrier-F, and i have a few questions:

  1. after looking at the data sheet, i plan to power the system through the 2-pin JST PH connector (V+ pin?) After I lower the voltage from 12 to 5.5 somehow.
Did I understand correctly - this is the appropriate method?

  2. when powering the system as mentioned above,
Assuming i connect a battery (Lion 3.7V) to the Vbat connector -
    Will the battery get charged?
(From the schematics in the data sheet, I think it wont, but want to make sure)

thank you very much

Hi @elyasaf,

  1. Yes, that is correct. You can use an LDO or buck converter to lower the voltage to the appropriate range. Be sure to have no more than 5V5 if you are powering from V+.
  2. You are correct again, the battery will not charge.

However, if you desire to charge the battery, then you may consider powering the Notecarrier-F via the SOLAR JST. It will charge the LiPo and power the device simultaneously.

All the best,
Zak
