AirNote data not updating

My Airnote went offline as it doesn’t seem to be charging properly via solar.
I fully charged it via USB (overnight). While it turns on and a number appears on the back screen, I don’t see anything updated on the site: Airnote Dashboard — Matsushima Area Monitor

Is the web part down or is my Airnote no longer phoning home? I’d love to have it working again.

Roger,

I see this

Seems to be working only last two days not?

Rob Oudendijk

Hi Rob,
Previously there were data gaps due to low battery and you’re right the last reading was two days ago.
I charged it twice since then but it doesn’t seem to be updating so wanted to know if it’s still working.

Roger

One more

regards
Rob

What does this mean? I see some capture on 4/28 which is good though the dashboard still has gaps. I’ll leave it on in hopes it will upload again.

Roger,

Not sure why it did upload one time. Can you check the logs?

Regards,
Rob Oudendijk

Roger,

Here is the log file.

airnote.csv.txt (555.3 KB)

Rob

When I restarted it I tried to change the settings to see if it was responsive (change the interval, what’s displayed on the screen from PM to temp).

Roger,

Here is the log file with Unix time converted to “human” time.

airnote roger with normal time.xlsx.txt (409.5 KB)

I think it’s dead, it isn’t responding normally when I power it on and off anymore. Sometimes it initializes the startup countdown but not necessarily.

(It should be fully charged after a full night plugged in.)

Roger,

This is what I see. Indeed, could be a charging issue. Maybe bad LiPo?

Rob Oudendijk

Hi Rob,
I turned it off and took it inside.
The battery doesn’t appear damaged (not swollen). It says 2021 on it, so is it at end of life?

The cable connecting the solar to the board seems okay, so my guess is the battery.

I would like to get this patient back working again!

Roger,

Good troubleshooting. One more way to troubleshoot is connecting with USB and see what messages are showing up in the log on boot.

Connect the Airnote with a USB cable to a computer and open a browser with https://dev.blues.io/. The click the “terminal” icon and connect to the Airnote.

In the terminal there is a help available with the question mark icon.
Press the T key for setting the tracing of the communications/errors etc.

Let me know if you need help.

Rob Oudendijk

Thanks for the guidance.

I connected it via USB and powered it on.

Here’s what I got upon hitting T.

[ignore the orientation bit, I picked it up to see if anything was on the back screen)

I’m not sure what I’m looking at here; is there a GPS issue (it is in the house while doing this).

Roger,

I go the feeling this is not the start of booting up, you should have other data too firmware etc..Can you reboot the airnote and just copy the log file?

Regards
Rob Oudendijk

Yes, that’s odd- most of the data wasn’t copied, not sure why. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Apologies again for my incompetence. Here’s a fresh log from today from startup:

Welcome to the Notecard In-Browser Terminal.

Roger,

I did not see any log files attached?

Regards
Rob Oudendijk

Hmm, I think my problem is doing this from the email interface (just replying to an email) vs the forum.

notecard_2026-05-05T10_30_18.log (24.0 KB)

Roger,

I quickly check the log file.
Noticed this error:

Seems and JSON error in the file. I have no idea what to make about that.
