Airnote not reporting again, display stuck showing 3.5

My Airnote is showing a reading of 3.5 continuously and not reporting anything to the dashboard
my ID is dev: 864475046539796, any ideas on how to reset it and get it communicating again please?

dblaze,

Sorry to hear about the situation.
Did you try to restart it?

Rob, I have switched it on and off a few times but it always ends up like this.

Dblaza,

I will look into the issue a bit later today.

dblaze,

I checked notehub and noticed it did send some data today. It starts “misbehaving” a few months ago already. 3.5 seems to be the air quality index.

For more details, look at Grafana

I am analyzing the issue a bit more. Seems if the power is more than 4.2 volt all works fine. But when the voltage drops below 4.2 volt, your airnote does not send data. This is not a normal behavior for air notes.

I will keep you updated on my finds.

dblaze,

I checked a bit more, and it seems the place of the airnote should have a lot of light for charging. https://t.ly/lUbLB. I noticed it can not make it though the night and I start to suspect a bad battery. Could you open the unit and check if the battery is bloated and send me a picture of the battery?

Regards,
Rob Oudendijk

Rob, here is the battery, the date is 2021 01 20

David,

Thanks for the taking and sending the picture, It seems a little swollen, but not that much. Just wondering why is the cable tie on the PMS7300 sensor?

Rob Oudendijk

Rob, that’s the way it came,

David,

Interesting to see. First time for me.
Can you put the Airnote on a USB cable and power it by that and see if it will then send data?

Regards,
Rob Oudendijk

Rob, it’s USB powered now

David,

Seems not to send data. The last data send was on 09/19 and only for a few minutes. Do you know what was different at that day, in relation to power/sun etc.?

Rob, nothing different each time, I switched it on and off a few times and went back to the battery and it seems to be online again now?

David,

Indeed, it seems to be back. And the voltage is about 4.1. Le’s wait till the voltage drops and see.

Still suspect a bad battery.

David,

So far, so good. Seems the charging by USB did get it back to working order. Grafana

Rob, its gone offline again, I have switched it on and off a few times and it displays air quality and no warning symbols.

Is there a hard reset I can try?

David,

Before doing anything, could you connect a USB cable to it and let it run?

If it comes back by itself, I suspect it has a battery issue. And we have to replace the battery. Are you able to do that if needed?

Warm regards,
Rob Oudendijk

Rob, yes I will try the USB cable again and report back.
