Airnote has stopped sending data

My Airnote in Central London ( Airnote Dashboard — DC-FNL-AirNote ) sent it’s last reading in the middle of December. Looking at the messages around that time, I can see some Low Battery/Dead Battery messages (very gloomy light all month). I assumed it (the battery) would eventually charge up, but nothing.

I have manually charged it now (4.17V on a voltmeter) and although I can see a few messages when I power it up, it’s still not wanting to play.

How can I debug this further? I wonder if the airtime subscription has expired?? (I don’t know how to check this, though.)

This display on the airnote is stuck at 19.2.

Pat,

I think the PMS sensor is not working correctly. I checked on my test gateway setup and noticed it started sending only 19.2 . If you can switch off the Airnote and try to clean the sensor by blowing air in it, it may start to produce correct readings again.

You could hook it up by USB and use the https://dev.blues.io/ to troubleshoot the Airnote direct through the terminal interface…

Thanks Rob,

Very cool of you to come back so quickly and so helpfully.

I’ll have a go now

No luck. I keep getting stuck at 19.2. Have re-seated the ribbon cable, blown air thru the sensor.

I’ve got it connected ok thru serial, but no clue how to debug from there …

~ Connected to serial
~ DeviceUID dev:864475044187101 (NOTE-NBGL-AIR1) running firmware 1.5.5.13080

Hint: A newer firmware, notecard-7.5.2 (2024 Q4 Developer Release), is available. See Notecard Firmware Updates

No point updating the firmware, I assume?

Incidentally, I see a little fan on the sensor. That’s not spinning.

Pat,

If the Airnote powers up, the display shows a “healthy” sequence like Airnote Datasheet - Blues Developers

Thank you for checking. For troubleshooting and to get much more information etc., You can press the “t” key in the terminal window. And then you can see the tracing and you can interact.

For advanced troubleshooting, you could look at the API documentation (API Reference - Blues Developers), but not sure if that makes sense at this point.

You could update, but not so sure if that would help.

As far I as remember, the small fan is not always running. When a measurement is taken, it starts up.
