AirNote error code - 510

Hello!

I am currently trying to troubleshoot an AirNote sensor. On powering up the sensor, it displays the typical “Lobat” message upon start-up. Then a count-down from 5 is displayed. After this, there is what I assume to be an error code of - 5 10 displayed for about a minute.

From what I see here, this indicates general failure. Are there any steps I can take to troubleshooting the sensor, or does it require a full part replacement? Any advice is much appreciated!

Hi @TaftHarrell and welcome to the Blues community!

Try opening up the case and taking a look at the PCB that holds the ON/OFF switch. Look at the very small (1mm x 1mm) silver-colored component to the front of the big silver air sensor (to the right of where it says “Airnote”). That’s the BME280 sensor reporting the failure. Make sure it’s clean and dry. If it still isn’t working after that, just let us know.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi @RobLauer

Thank you for your advice! I opened up the case and believe I found the BME280 sensor. I’m including a picture to make sure that I am looking at the correct part. I gently wiped it down with a microfiber cloth, but unfortunately it is still displaying the error code. Is there a more extensive cleaning process I should do?

I will also say that after the code displays for about a minute, the LCD displays three dashed lines to the right of a flashing plus symbol.

Thanks,

Taft

TaftHarrell,

As far as I have experienced with AirNotes, the -510 error is also common if the I2C is not working an can be contributed by a bad flat cable connection. Try to clean the connector. Be very carefull with the black clip. I have broken some by not carefully opening them up

Thank you @robouden! I wiped down the blue part of the flat cable and also the port that the cable fits into with a cloth. Unfortunately it is displaying the error code. I did discover that there appears to be some damage between the circuit board and solar panel (see image below). I’m not sure if this would be causing the error code, however.

Hi @TaftHarrell,

We may have to RMA this Airnote. Someone should be reaching out to you soon.

Thanks and sorry for the problems!
