Are you using the ESP32 for Wi-Fi and the Notecard for cellular? When you say “This method of communicating fails once the device has switched to Cellular…” can you provide more context/info on what “fails” means (i.e. locks up, cell doesn’t work, etc)?
If you want to avoid using two sets of firmware and still want the Wi-Fi to cellular fallback capability, I would look at our own Notecard Cell+WiFi offerings that provides that capability built in.
