Notecarrier-F not charging the battery with Solar Panel

I have a bunch of sensor hooked up the system with Notecarrier-F. It is connected to a 5000mAh battery 3.7V and connected to Solar panel - 5 Watt 6 Volt Solar Panel - ETFE. But its not charging at all, and my device keeps on shutting down after going below 2.9V.
Please help me to solve this.

Thank you

Hi @visariakeval and welcome to the Blues community!

Can you post a picture of your components/wiring so we can validate that everything looks ok?

You should have the battery plugged into the VBAT JST connector on Notecarrier F and the solar panel connected to the SOLAR JST connector on Notecarrier F.

Thanks,
Rob

Hey @RobLauer
Thanks for the response. Here is the picture with the wiring.

Additionally, I tried to check the voltage across VBAT and VSOLAR it was 3.6 and 4.07 respectively.

Thanks,
Keval

Hi @visariakeval,

Thanks for sending this picture. Your wiring looks great. I’d be curious to see how the system behaves without your sensors connected. I wonder if the draw of those, plus Swan, plus Notecard (is it in continuous mode?) is pulling too much current?

Rob

Hey @RobLauer,

The notecard is currently set in periodic mode - sending data every 60 min and also taking reading every 30 mins . So the load is quite low. But today its was a sunny day and I could see the solar panel did work in the morning charging the battery. Do you think having a 10W - 6V/5V battery would help in this case where the sunlight is not at its best?

Thank you

Best,
Keval

Hi @visariakeval,

You really need to measure the draw of all the other peripherals connected to the Notecarrier. The LiPo battery you are using is more than adequate to power the Notecarrier and Notecard for an extended period of time (regardless of the frequency of cell connections).
