WIFI Notecard USB disconnect

Hi - I’m using the starnote kit and it came w/ a wifi card, I connected it to USB and followed the setup. After I configured the AP settings, it lost its connection. I can reconnect but it loses the connection again. I can maybe issue a few commands between the reboot, so I set a card.restore command which “fixed” the rebooting problem; Ive narrowed this down to when I apply the WIFI setting the reboot cycle starts.
Notecard is the 2.1 version

I tried it w/ the 1.2 version and its not rebooting

Here’s what I see in the console:

~ Connected to serial
~ Sync Status Monitor enabled
~ DeviceUID dev:4827e21dea2c (NOTE-ESP) running firmware 9.2.3.17324
* Lost connection to device. Attempting to reconnect...
~ Trying to reestablish lost connection...

Any ideas?

Hi @gomario2,

This is interesting - so by “lost its connection” you mean the connection between your computer and Notecarrier is dropping? It looks like you’re on the latest firmware, so that’s good. Can you try using a different USB cable, just in case? Also, when it disconnects, are you seeing any flashing lights on the Notecard itself (implying an actual reboot)? Lastly, I would try hooking up a LiPo battery to the Notecarrier just to see if it’s some power-related issue with the Notecard itself.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob – I got it working somewhere between the 8th and 9th inning of the yankee astros game.

But seriously, was messing around with this and tried several things , new cable etc. But a couple things stood out , I added “security”:”wpa2” to the wifi setup which I don’t think is documented. But even after that yesterday I had no success. Today I did a simulator usb 1st , then restored the card and repeated the setup… Seems to be an order thing, as right before the usb serial is dropped it was trying to sync. Good news is its online and now I can move fwd to getting the starlink running.

Hi @gomario2,

I’m glad to hear you got it working, but it shouldn’t take any kind of special process/order to get it working though! In case this happens again, it would be useful to get a trace log of what is happening right before the restart.

Thanks,
Rob

After I finish my starnote eval , I’ll reset the card and see if i can repeat it and grab the log. thanks
