For some reason, even though my Notecard WiFi is in continuous
mode with sync:true
, the status returned by a card.wireless
request is {modem-off}
. How can I fix this so that the Notecard has a continuous connection to Notehub?
If it matters,
- Notecard WiFi 1.2
- Firmware version 8.1.1.16998
- The WiFi itself seems very good since it’s saying 5 bars
- I do see on Notehub an event in
_session.qo
that has the body {"why":"closed: notecard ended the session"}

I notice this only started happening after I downloaded the firmware version using Notehub and the Notecard’s DFU status is “Completed” instead of “Idle”. I’m thinking this might be the cause, and it was posted on the forum by someone else here.

Hey @yunzheng,
Sorry you ran into a problem here.
To try to recreate your issue, I factory reset my Notecard 1.2 and set it to mode: continuous
and sync: true
. In Notehub I then updated from 7.x to 8.1.2 and I did not have the issue you described—aka my Notecard continued to return "status": "{network-up}"
from card.wireless
after the firmware update.
I did have the issue described in the other thread, and my DFU Status remained as “Completed” after the update, but it did not affect the connectivity of my device.
So there’s a couple of things we can try here:
-
Try 8.1.2. We just published 8.1.2 to Notehub this morning. It should be identical to 8.1.1 for WiFi (the LoRa version had a bug fix and we keep the version numbers in sync), but maybe something weird happened.
-
Capture a trace log from your Notecard after you update. See How do I capture a trace information from Notecard?. Maybe there’s something weird going on with the connection that we’ll be able to tell from that.
Thanks,
TJ

Thank you. I updated the firmware to 8.1.2 and it doesn’t seem to fix anything. I also first set it to mode:periodic
before changing it to mode:continuous
with sync:true
after about 30-50 seconds. Do you think that could have anything to do with this problem?
I fixed this issue by giving the Notecard a factory reset
