Custom LoRa Gateway setup (non-blues)

I have a custom gateway (WisGate RAK7268CV2 LoRa Gateway) that supports cell. I have followed instructions at Connecting to a LoRaWAN Gateway - Blues Developers.

The Gateway is connecting to TTN (the things industries). I followed along with Notecard Lora not syncing to Notehub - Troubleshooting - Blues Community Forum.

I have a new LoRa Notecard, set the product id { “req”:“hub.set”, “product”:“[my product id]”}

When the notecard powers up, I see in TTN the Gateway is receiving uplink messages with a JoinEUI: 6E 6F 74 65 63 61 72 64, which is the application identifier of the Blues Managed LoRaWAN application server.

In console - I see “Sync needed - Notehub sync attempt - …”. a hub.sync.status just shows “status”: “sync in progress {sync}”. I don’t see the device in notehub.

Let me know what you need

Hi @briancarter,

My first thought is to double check that Packet Broker is configured/enabled on the gateway. I’m guessing you already checked that, but just want to be sure!

Rob

Hey Rob @RobLauer - my LoRa notecard is now in my list of devices on Notehub and I was able to send it some test data events! Few findings that made this work:

  1. the thethingsindustries (TTI) screens are different from the TTN help - for the Packet Broker settings, in the TTI clicked on my account in the upper right and select “admin panel”. Click on “Peering settings” in the left menu. Under Setup, the “List my network in Packet Broker publicly” is not selected by default - I enabled that (Enable Packet Broker is on by default).

  2. on my TTI gateway, “General settings”, scroll all the way to bottom and expand the LoRaWAN options. The frequency that worked for me is "United States 902-928 Mhz, FSB 2 (used by TTN) - the first one for US in the list (FSB 1) did not work for me.

I’m currently using the Ethernet port on the router. I’ll post back once I have the sim card enabled and working purely over cell.

Thanks for guiding me along - Brian

Hi Brian,

I was wondering if you had to configure any of the Routing Policies for the packet broker in order for this to work. Thanks - Aathithan

I have the following routing configurations set. Let me know if this helps.

Updating the Setup - need the list my network in packet broker publicly

Visibility - I checked them all
